Valbona, Albania

Valbona, Albania

10 - 11 Sep 2017

We arrived at Villa Dini in Valbona at 3pm from Prizren, Kosovo. The Valbona Valley National Park is about 5km away from our villa where one can hike the many trails at the park, check it out here.
We didn't go for a hike as we would only be staying for 1 night in Valbona (unfortunately). The Valbona National Park is located inside the Albanian Alps that encompasses 80 km2 of mountainous terrain, with numerous rivers, lakes, caves, canyons, dense coniferous and deciduous forest. There are 4 villages located within the park, i.e. Dragobi, Valbonë, Cerem and Rragam. Info extracted from here.

We stayed at Villa Dini (EUR 40 per room per night, Booking.com). There is no air conditioning in the room, but you won't need it with the fresh air from the mountains. There is no shops nearby, so for dinner tonight, we ordered from the Villa, and it was reasonably priced. We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening strolling the area around our Villa, and continued a bit more of the strolling the next morning to catch the sunrise.

No words can describe enough the beauty of Valbona, so let the pictures do the talking. Heck, even the plenty of pictures cannot do justice to the majestic view of the mountains and forests, you just have to come here and experience it yourself. Enough said. Enjoy the pictures!

Sadly enough, we had to leave Valbona early the next morning at 7.30am after a lovely breakfast (included with room rate) to catch the Alpin ferry at 9am which would depart from Fierze to Komani, plying the Drin river which makes up the equally beautiful Komani lake after a dam was built at Komani. This is also another must do if you are here in Valbona valley! Stay tuned for the next post on Lake Komani. These pictures will give a taste of what's to come...
